Race for the Cure 2011

Yesterday I walked in the Susan G. Komen "Race for the Cure".  What a renewed hope, faith and thankfulness this day gave me.  It's unbelievable how many lives this ugly disease touches.  Megan, Cora and Georgia.... I walked in celebration of you, as well as my sister, Samantha, and wore all your names proudly.

The day started at 6:30 am with the survivors breakfast.  Women of all ages that have survived breast cancer from months to 30+ years.  It was awesome.  I received hugs, smiles and encouragement from total strangers the whole time.  There were people as far as you could see.... tens of thousands of people......  We had over 40 people (47 to be exact) that walked for our team.  Our team raised over $1,600 for the cure, WOW.

I made a picture collage of some picture from the walk.  Be sure to look at the collage in full screen mode and click on each picture to enlarge it.  Praying for a cure.............  Love to all.

  1. I'm so proud of you, Connie! Your post just blessed my heart to the deepest parts. I know what you've been through, the ups and downs of emotions, the anxieties of the future ----- but NOTHING beats the encouragement and push and love of those who walked those steps before you and hug you on!!!!! I'm so glad you did this --- for you, for me, for all of us. Remember all the dread and gloom and anxiousness at the first of your blogging, when you were first diagnosed???? Well, now you can understand why I could be a cheerleader for you --- I knew what was on the other side of that tunnel. Now you do, too. LOVED the joy and happiness in your face. Loved the whole bunch of pictures! LOVE YOU!!!! PLEASE don't stop blogging. Let us know where you go from here, what you are up to, etc. That was the hardest for me. Moving on. I thought my life after cancer was so boring that no one would be interested and I stopped blogging for a while. But now that I've followed you blog and others, I don't want to be left hanging. So. . . . (hint, hint!!!!!) Love you, Girl! And I'm just praising God that it's behind you. Big hugs coming your way!!!!

  2. Connie, I was so touched. Obviously so was Cora. It simply made me cry. Had no idea I would cry, but I did. What a great and brave girl you are, because I know what the weather was like yesterday here in north Arkansas. Hope you walked briskly to keep that body heat up. Whew! At least it wasn't raining (much) was it? I loved your picture collage. Are those tiny children yours (as in grands). They are adorable! I've got to get my daughters to read this. She'll be so touched by your effort. God bless your heart, Connie. -Megan-
